Born in 1981 in Taipei, Taiwan, Davina Hsu 許芳禎 is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist working across fiber, esoteric research, social practice, and public art. After graduating from Parsons School of Design with her BFA in 2009, she enrolled in the School of Visual Arts and received her MFA in 2023. Hsu’s practice investigates quantum theory of the soul and Taoist philosophy of inner alchemy through the lens of embodied experience and energetic perception. Working primarily in fiber, she approaches felting as a ritual process and a medium through which embodied felt perception takes physical form.
Hsu's solo exhibitions include Heaven on Earth (2025) at Turley Gallery, Hudson, NY; Soft Energy (2025) at ArtBridge Projects, New York; Blessing Transmission (2024), presented by ArtBridge in collaboration with Battery Park City Authority, New York; New Futures (2023), a solo booth at The Other Art Fair, Brooklyn; and Mystery Young (2012) at Soka Art Center, Taipei.
Hsu has participated in numerous group exhibitions in New York and internationally, including Because, now is the time of monsters (2026) at Wassaic Project, Wassaic, NY; A Waking Dream (2026) at Fou Gallery, New York; Handle with Ease (2026) at Yang Collective, Long Island City, NY; I Should Have Been a Pair of Ragged Claws (2024) at Wassaic Project, Wassaic, NY; and Dwelling in Motion (2022) at SVA Flatiron Gallery, New York. Her work was also presented at Untitled Art Fair in Miami Beach in 2023.
