Shuai Yang (b. 1998 Beijing, China) is an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, printmaking, drawing, installation and performance. Her practice surrounds corporeal and spiritual connections between the human form and the universe. Yang positions herself as a center point from which perceptual exploration unfolds, often incorporating images of the body, geometric forms, astronomical diagrams and malleable materials. Influenced by her background in printmaking studies, Yang’s creative process echoes ideas of layering, repetition, and multiplicity. This pursuit of sensual understanding, mediated through the body’s relationship to the cosmic realm, underpins her multimedia experiments and manifests in possibilities for installations.
Yang’s work has been exhibited at the Hudson River Museum, New York (2024); Society of Arts and Crafts, Boston (2019); Columbia University, New York (2021); Framingham State University, Framingham (2019); Rockella Artist Space, New York (2023); Accent Sister, Jersey City (2024); ZAHAV Gallery, Cali, Columbia (2024); Wallach Gallery, Lenfest Center for the Arts, New York (2023); Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami (2023); Abigail Ogilvy, Los Angeles (2023); Chambers Fine Arts, New York (2023); LATITUDE Gallery, New York (2023); Storage Gallery, New York (2023); theBLANC Gallery, New York (2023); Chashama Space, New York (2021); and 164 Ashburton Ave, Yonkers (2021).
